Dr Tom Standen

Head Veterinary Surgeon

Tom graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and begining his career in mixed practice in rural Kent. Since 2015, Tom has worked in a variety of dedicted small animal practices and hospitals in Kent, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, before joining the team at Village Vet St Albans in the spring of 2023.

Tom has a particular interest in Dentistry and Oro-facial surgery and was awarded a certificate in Small Animal Veterinary Dentistry in 2021. Tom spends a lot of time performing routine dentistry and advanced procedures such as orthodontics, facial tumour investigations and root canal procedures. Additionally, his strong interest in anaesthesia and analgesia compliments his surgical interest. Outside of the dental suite, supports junior members of the team as a VetGP Advisor.

In his free time, Tom enjoys making pizza, walking his lurcher Dizzy and growing vegetables on his allotment.
